From the dawn of the automotive era, racing has been used to demonstrate the superiority of one manufacturer over another. It is this “Spirit of Competition” that we celebrate at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum. Assembled by renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Frederick Simeone over a span of 50 years, the Museum collection contains over 60 of the rarest and most significant racing sports cars ever built. This Web site details the various cars in the exhibit, as well as information on events at the Museum. We extend our invitation for you to visit us soon.

Classic Motorcycle Show Runs Through September 9th
The “Classic Motorcycles at the Simeone Museum,” sponsored by Philly.com, will run from August 14th to September 9th. This year’s focus will be on Triumph, the iconic British motorcycle that shot to fame in the 1950s when Marlon Brando rode into a small California town in the movie “The Wild One.” Among the 30 + motorcycles on display is a Triumph 6T Thunderbird, exactly like the one Brando rode.
The Classic Motorcycle show also will feature a special display from the H.C. Morris Collection, Winchester, Ky., of every model year of the Triumph Bonneville TT Special, from 1963 to 1967. This is one of only two complete collections of these prized bikes in the world.
Other sponsors of the show include Martin Motorsports, Hagerty Insurance, Victory Brewing, MetroRacing.com and Maui Jim Sunglasses.
Admission to the Classic Motorcycle Show is included with regular museum admission, $12 adults, $10 seniors, $8 for students. Children under 8 are admitted free. The Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Click here for a list and description of the motorcycles on display this year.)

John Fitch To Be Honored At This Year’s Spirit Of Competition Awards Dinner
We are pleased to announce that John Fitch has been selected as the recipient of the third “Spirit of Competition” Award, to be presented Wednesday, October 20th at our annual dinner here at the Museum.
In the course of a driving career which spanned almost two decades, John Fitch won numerous sports car races including the 1953 Sebring 12-hour race in a Cunningham C4R. He competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans six times, finishing as high as third. Fitch was the only American on the famed Mercedes-Benz racing team and later served as the first manager for Chevrolet’s Corvette racing team, and the first general manager of the Lime Rock Park race track.
In addition, Fitch emulated his ancestor, John Fitch who invented the steamship, by inventing many safety innovations for the race track and the highway. The Fitch Barriers - yellow sand-filled barrels - are ubiquitous on America’s highways and have helped save countless lives.

The first article by Dave Caldwell covers the Demonstration Days we run every month. Dave came here last summer for the Supercharged Day.
The second article is Automotive Editor Jim Cobb’s Blog. Jim visited the Museum last November and wrote a very informative overview of the Museum.
